It first proved its worth in the low mountain ranges in Hesse and Thuringia, from Bebra. It remained loyal to its Hessian homeland for thirty years. Darmstadt, Hanau, Frankfurt/M, Wiesbaden and Giessen were its stations and the main lines on the Rhine and Lahn rivers, over the Spessart hills and the Wetterau region, were its territory. It was retired in Hof in November 1973.
